33 - Website Visual Planning

Image
WEBSITE VISUAL PLANNING Attached are two images that display plans for the website. The first is of the home page, showing the different elements of each. I decided I wanted to base the colour pallet of the website on the colours in the main logo for the band. I also want to use a font similar to EB Garamond, again matching the font used in the logo.  It also shows the elements that I would like to have on the home page, including a link to an About page, the music video, merch, the audio file and a footer containing contact details. There will also be social media links in the header along with the band's logo.  I have many different photographs ready for the website as well. One that I am planning to use on the home page has been drawn out on the plan. If there is space for more images, I would like to use some more forest imagery to further match the aesthetic of the band. Here there is a diagram similarly to before showing a map of how the web pages will link together.

32 - Website Builder

WEBSITE BUILDER I have decided to use Wix for my website builder due tot he fact that I prefer their design of websites over Weebly. While building the site, I found that the editor was incredibly user friendly, although sometimes too much so as there were a number of creative restrictions that this brought. These restrictions, however, I found were much more prominent when testing out Weebly.

FINAL EDIT Below you will find the final render of the music video which I have uploaded as a YouTube video due to problems with the video being too big to upload on the blog. Final Edit NEA MEDIA Music Video

27 - Re-Shoots and Additions

RE-SHOOTS AND ADDITIONS When editing the majority of my re-shoots were done during the sections of the video when the protagonist is at home. This was quite lucky, as you can imagine. The main reason for many of the re-shoots are simply due to not being very happy with the result, whether that be because of the camera angle, lighting, or because I forgot to focus the camera before recording... Which happened more times than I care to mention In the video above is the original video I used for one of the shots in which the protagonist simply sits at their desk. Here I would continue to get up and sit down a number of times so that afterward I could chose which specific sit down was truly perfect. During this process, however, Scout came upstairs to join me, so I thought it might be nice to have the shot include him the background as he sits on the windowsill, similarly to the first shot in the video. Even so, Scout thought it would be better if he just stood up looking out the window, a...

29 - Website Analysis

Image
WEBSITE ANALYSIS The first website I'm looking into to analyse is from the same band as the chosen song to start off with. Lord Huron website link The website has been designed so that each of the areas shown in the screenshots are all on one page, and are separated into sections as you scroll down. The colour pallet used is simple, soft and fairly bright, and gives way for the other colours of the album covers shown, while matching the style of the album covers and other photographs. There is little text, only really showing near the top of each section and on buttons that lead you further through the web page. The font of the text is consistent and distinct. There are also further links at the top of the website which are always visible wherever on the site you are, that lead to social media links as well as the areas of the website. The simplicity of the website makes it easier to navigate through and understand, while providing everything that is needed clearly. The second webs...

26 - Rough Edit

Image
ROUGH EDIT Below you will find the first rough edit made for the music video. This version has one or two missing pieces of video as they are shots I had planned to redo. There is also no alterations made to the visuals, including the colour and animations that will soon be completed and played on top.

ORIGINAL IMAGES Here are some of the photographs that may be used on the website for the future.

24 - Evidence of Production

Image
EVIDENCE OF PRODUCTION Here are a number of screenshots from editing the film. I used Premiere pro to edit the  For the border around the text near the beginning, I used a digital drawing program, Krita to draw shrubbery, trees, grass, etc. And here is an awkward video my camerawoman took while still figuring out how to stop recording

23 - Shooting the Film

SHOOTING THE FILM While shooting the film I did not run into many problems. I took all the video I needed over the course of a few days.  My main concerns for filming were both of the weather and of my dog, Scout, who is also in the film. Thankfully, he was incredibly well behaved and I didn't have any trouble with him at all. He also got a nice run about for a few hours each day which I'm sure he enjoyed. The weather was also perfect over the course of those few days, and I was incredibly thankful for that too. Before I had even began filming, my tripod fell apart and I lost some pieces that would have helped repair it, so we were off to a good start. When I began filming, I started shooting shots that came near the end of the video, as well as a number of shots that are used throughout the video of the scenery and the dog. This is because the forest in which I was shooting was the most difficult to get to. It is not a regular forest with a path, but one that isn't visited...

22 - Props and Costumes

Image
PROPS AND COSTUMES The only specific props I will be needing is a small black sketchbook with some pre-done drawings made inside. I will also have a pair of binoculars as the protagonist, but this contributes more to the costume than as a prop. The costumes for the protagonist will consist of two similar outfits, I want these outfits to be primarily blue. This is because the protagonist will stand out more in blue in the areas for filming, as well be differentiated from the dog who is yellow. The dog, Scout, will also be wearing a red bandanna which will help him to stand out in areas where his coat may lead him to blending in with the scenery. Lastly the cat, Merlin, will not be wearing anything extra but I will be sure to film him in a predominantly white and brightly lit room so that his black fur will still be able to reflect plenty details on his face. Here is scout wearing his red bandanna, along with a photograph of the bandanna alone,. This is the first outfit to be used in the...

21 - Casting Shots

Image
CASTING SHOTS Attached are the casting shots for the music video. You may notice that I had to use myself for the main casting. This is purely because I have to do the filming over the holidays, and I would not be able to use anyone else for this project because of it. I have also cast my dog Scout to play the part of the dog...  for obvious reasons.

20 - Location Planning and Location Photographs

Image
LOCATION PLANNING AND PHOTOGRAPHS There are a number of different areas that I am planning to film in. Firstly, my own bedroom and desk for part of the beginning and middle of the video, as well as some other areas of the house.  Then I would like to film in some different wooded places, including some nearby common and uncommon walking routes. Hopefully there will be plenty of days with appropriate weather to shoot!
