About Edge of the Known

Edge of the Known is a band making up of three members from across the world. They began their journey in 2017 and have been producing and performing music since. These artists take inspiration from the natural world around them, as well as their own lives and backgrounds, which has been the backbone of their music since they began, and the main reason for the accumulation of their devoted fans.

About the Band
Edge of the Known is a highly esteemed band who began in 2017. Since then, they’ve used their experimental sound exploration and unique approach to shape the signature sound that echoes with their inspiration from the world around us. For these artists, there’s no standing still. They constantly strive to improve and evolve with the motivation of offering something completely unique to devoted fans and followers. They find inspiration wherever they look as well as in their personal and diverse backgrounds, and use this to interweave in their work.

                - Matt Bio
Mathew was born on December 26 2005 and was raised with two brothers In Ontario Canada. His favourite food is burnt buttered toast. At a young age, Mathew had always wanted to become a writer of fiction and drama, but was also heavily inspired by music and eventually decided to write music for a living. He help form the band early in 2017 along with Elise and Amelia, and since has contributed immensely to its music as both the Guitarist, backing vocalist and writer. The three decided to create a small band utilising their individual talents and using their vastly different backgrounds to help diversify and influence their work.

                - Elise Bio
Born on June 18 2005 and growing up in Huntly, Scotland, Elise eventually moved to the Czech Republic aged seven. The change of scenery and more artistic culture is supposedly what sparked her initial interest in music.
During those first years at the beginning of her musical journey, she met a number of different people online who shared her passion for music, including future band partner Amelia. In her free time she would learn and practise. During this time she also learnt to play both the piano and clarinet, while simultaneously working on her voice. After eight years of living in Prague, her and her family moved back to Scotland and she has lived there since. During this time she also met Mathew over the internet through their shared interest of art and music. The three decided to create a small band utalising their individual talents and using their vastly different backgrounds to help diversify and influence their work.

                - Berth Description
As the first album, released in 2017, "Berth" establishes all of the key themes for the band, and explores them in depth. Each song in this album is very different from one another, showing of the band's experimentation, while still containing some of the most iconic pieces from Edge of the Known. This influential album demonstrates clearly the emergence of these artist's signature work.

                - Ghosts of Forgotten Description
"Ghosts of Forgotten" is their most well known album, holding one of their biggest songs, "Meet Me in the Woods". It is also home to more of their most popular songs, such as "Evening Fields, "Salt of the Sea" and of course "Young South". After the debut of this album in 2019, the band gained an immense following from thousands of devoted fans who were eager to hear what they would do next.

                - New Old Worlds Description
This album is planned to be released in January of 2023. Be sure to keep a look out for it!

RE-SHOOTS AND ADDITIONS When editing the majority of my re-shoots were done during the sections of the video when the protagonist is at home. This was quite lucky, as you can imagine. The main reason for many of the re-shoots are simply due to not being very happy with the result, whether that be because of the camera angle, lighting, or because I forgot to focus the camera before recording... Which happened more times than I care to mention In the video above is the original video I used for one of the shots in which the protagonist simply sits at their desk. STEVE BARRON Steve Barron is an Irish filmmaker and director born in 1956, Dublin. He started work in films as a camera assistant, and slowly growing to have directed for a huge number of films, TV shows and music videos, as well as doing all sorts of other works. Some notable works include directing a number of episodes from the television series "The Storyteller", produced by Jim Henson, along with directing the films "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" in 1990 and "The Adventures of Pinocchio" in 1996. He is most known, however, for his work on Micheal Jackson's music video for the song "Billie Jean", Bryan Adams' music video for both "Summer of '69" and "Run to You", as well as directing the music video for Aha's "Take on Me".
