WEBSITE ANALYSIS

The first website I'm looking into to analyse is from the same band as the chosen song to start off with.

Lord Huron website link

The website has been designed so that each of the areas shown in the screenshots are all on one page, and are separated into sections as you scroll down. The colour pallet used is simple, soft and fairly bright, and gives way for the other colours of the album covers shown, while matching the style of the album covers and other photographs. There is little text, only really showing near the top of each section and on buttons that lead you further through the web page. The font of the text is consistent and distinct. There are also further links at the top of the website which are always visible wherever on the site you are, that lead to social media links as well as the areas of the website.
The simplicity of the website makes it easier to navigate through and understand, while providing everything that is needed clearly.

The second website I'm analysing is that of Gregory Alan Isakov's

This website has an incredibly interesting layout for it's front page. It is designed to look like a scrap book with a number of different old photos cut out and stuck down with tape. Each photograph has a piece of text leading to another similarly styled web page. The text fonts used in the images is different for each word, but reflecting a similar style to one another through the typewriter based fonts as well as some hand written also. The colours are stronger in comparison to the last web page, with a simple black background and almost monochromatic brown-grey colours over the text and images. There is still some variation in the colours, but the general colour pallet makes sure that each of the colours still work and blend together. In some instances the wording of the text also reflects the old-feeling of the webpage, such as the use of "comrades and affiliates" along with the photograph of a man on a horse.
The design of the website helps to make the very simple layout feel more full and complex, without becoming confusing to the user.
