18 - STATEMENT OF INTENT - Final Draft

 FINAL DRAFT

How do you intend to use the four areas of the media theoretical framework to communicate meaning and meet the requirements of your chosen brief? (approx. 400 words)

The concept for my video is to represent the chosen track through a strong narrative and style. I hope to be able to reflect the themes and tone of the original track well when creating the music video, while also keeping the video unique with my own personal style. I will have the narrative of the video predominantly feature the outdoors, including forests, moors, etc. This should fit in well with the folk genre of the music as well as the aesthetic and content of the song itself. It will then attract the specific audience I'm targeting due to this choice in strong representation of the music’s themes.
This concept will fit into the core values of the record company, Sony Music, which is to “inspire the world to do great things through the influence of music by promoting inspirational melodies and lyrics". I will achieve this through the creativity of my work and through the promotion of the music, which I hope can inspire future artists, whether that be in film, music or any other form or art. I hope that the video itself will also inspire people to appreciate and explore the outdoors, as this will be the main moral of the video.

I will use a small variety of performers in my music video, those of which will be able to represent the target audience. This will help the audience relate to the characters/performers more and help link with the record company values. I will also make use of mise-en-scene. This technique can be incredibly powerful and links intertextually with a number of other well known high quality music videos.
Furthermore, I plan to shoot and edit the film in a way that will reflect the themes even more, sitting within the genre and further promoting the values, particularly in the way that I hope to create a visual aesthetic to the video. These same ideas go for both the narrative and performance, in which I will use to drive the video forward and bring the qualities to light. I also want to utilise some more unique and creative ways for tackling different problems, which I hope can bring all the elements, themes, tone and qualities of the video together.
The message of the video will be to encourage curiosity, exploration and wonder. It will inspire the audience to enjoy going out and experiencing the natural world. This will be incredibly important with fitting into both the genre and the values of the company, aiming to inspire creativity and interest.

I am going to attract my audience through the design choices I have in mind for my website. I will use synergy so that the aesthetic, colour pallet, and general feel of the website matches with the rest of the band's assets, and most importantly the music video itself. I plan to take some photographs during the process of filming that I can use for the website which will help me to achieve this. The visual elements of the website will be cohesive throughout, and will keep the viewer's interest through the different images, photographs, drawings, (etc.) that I will have throughout each of the pages. I will have a number of different pages in my website, including a main front page, an about page for the band members, etc. I will also make a page dedicated to a shop with appropriate merchandise, and social media links clear on the top and bottom of the page. On my website I will have plenty of interactive elements, such as the music video, the song itself, details about the band, etc. I hope to structure it so that the front page has most elements of the website on display, and the viewer can access them in more detail further by going to a new page. The music video will be uploaded onto social media, which will allow for the audience to interact with the makers directly. There will also be a page dedicated to contact details. My website will reflect Sony Music, as it will fulfill the core value of 'inspiring the world to do great things', through the themes of the music video. It will also be beneficial financially through the addition of the merchandise shop.

Write about how the visual elements of the website will hook in and keep readers on the pages

How do you intend to link your media products to demonstrate your knowledge and  understanding of the digitally convergent nature of your media production? (approx. 100 words)

Synergy in branding is incredibly important as it maintains a continuity between the themes and values of a product, causing the audience to stay engaged and build a greater trust between them and the business. Because of this, I am going to stay consistent in the visual themes including images, logos, colour schemes and font choices. This will make sure that whatever surrounds the product will continually feel consistent, as well as bring a recognisable familiarity to my website, social media and the music video that will be more inviting for the audience.
